Crochet Stitch Bible
Monday, October 29th, 2007I want this book so bad it’s insane. I just don’t have the fundage up to buy it. I wish my stuff on Etsy would sell already. Then I would be able to just buy it and get it over with. *sigh* I hate waiting on money.

Saturday, October 27th, 2007Grossly overestimated
Thursday, October 25th, 2007I saw the baby who I made the mittens for today. I grossly overestimated the size of his little hands. The hat will fit, because he has LOTS of hair, but the mittens have to be redone. That’s fine by me. More practice ;D
Speaking of practice, my mother lent me some books till I am able to get the one I want. I am ready to dig in to some different stitches now. I have been lollygagging since I got home. I just wanted to get a few things done in the house before I immersed myself in fiber. Now I can. WHOOPEE!!!

Between last night and this morning I made a pair of slipper socks for myself. These were made with a larger needle than the ones I made for my son. I LOVE these. They feel great alone or over top of a pair of regular socks. Even over another pair of socks, I can still put my foot into a sneaker. Good stuff. I think I might crochet a longer pair soon.

It’s kind of a hard yarn to crochet with, but the results are superb. I got the baby soft stuff for half off. I love the bargain basket!

In this, I decided to crochet a sock-like slipper for my son. It reminds me of one of those bomb pops minus the red. This is made from a yarn I bought yesterday on sale at Walmart. I got it half price and thought it an excellent grade to make slipper socks for me and the kid. His are this color, mine will be purple and white.

Hat and Mittens (Toddler)

I made these for my cousin’s son. He is turning a year old and we are invited to his birthday party. I might try to whip up a little scarf to go with this, but right now the hat with a little brim and the mittens are all I have for this set. I hope they fit. I used my own son’s hand as testing templates.
I made the mitts a bit smaller than his hands. I made the mitts with a 0 boye metal needle that I got from the Ebay seller. It works great. I am just wishing for a size G aluminum right now, though. I hope to find one at our Walmart. Hopefully, they will have the full aluminum set for less than $15.
By the way, everything I crochet is freeform, so far.
Ice, Water, and Sky
Sunday, October 21st, 2007This is the finished afghan/lapghan that I was working on. It took forever. It is made up of 8 granny squares. The other 8 squares are made up of 22 double stitch rows by 12 rows. The blue is what I chose to use in single stitches around the edges, then kind of mattress stitched them together. It is not the 5 X 4 that I planned…it’s 4 X 4, but just as functional and oh so warm.
I don’t know that I will be doing many of these, as they are really time consuming. One good thing that I do see with this, is that I can make up scrap grannies and use them in a progressive blanket or save them for another project later down the line. I really want to experiment more with the granny squares. The one color is fun, easy, and quick. I want to make it a challenge LOL.
