Neck Pillows

Friday, July 4th, 2008

I left my beloved neck pillow in Rhode Island. Instead of buying another one for close to 20 bucks, I decided to make my own for about 1/4 of the price. I bought some fabric (about a yard each off the discount rack), and a 2 dollar bag of stuffing:

And last night I started to transform them into neck pillows worthy of my bed. I also made one for my son:

Finished Pillows

I will probably make one more, but larger in polka dot. These are more travel size.

Not in the mood to craft

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

I dont know what happened. I guess the overstimulation with fiber has left me high and dry now. I am still going to do more things, I just have not taken the initiative to do anything right now. I am getting back into my guitar and reading the Bible. I am doing my daily devotions and worshipping like I used to. I know that crafting will come back. I cycle through these things pretty rapidly. Please don’t leave me, bear with me in this. I adore all of you!

Until I am back to crafting on my own, I think I will start featuring crafters that I see doing cool things. Off to bound across the webosphere and find something I like so I can share!

Thursday Thirteen: 13 Yarns I would love to try

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

HEHEHEHHEHEE This should be interesting. (thanks mom for the idea)

  1. Cascade 220 - I want to know what all the hype is about.
  2. Noro Kureyon - I want to know why people hate it so much.
  3. Cashmere - because feeling it in the store is just not enough.
  4. Silk - same as cashmere.
  5. Malabrigo - too many people talk about it. It has to be good.
  6. Merino - I have only touched it, but it seems to be the most popular yarn/fiber.
  7. Soy -  It’s a more green yarn and is supposed to feel good.
  8. Qiviuit - to find out why it’s so expensive.
  9. Bamboo - might be interesting to wear.
  10. Hemp - I know what this fiber is capable of, and it’s pretty awesome.
  11. Linen - So many things are made from this, I have to see if I can make something comparable.
  12. Corn silk - It is so shiny! I have to wonder wthat it feels like to work with.
  13. Nettle - read about it in old story books, want to know what it’s like.

So that is my top 13 for yarn/yarn fibers!

Raglan progress

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

I am about 4 rows from the suggested bottom ribbing. I don’t know that I will put THAT much ribbing at the bottom. It looks like a good 6 inches of ribbing *blech*. I will see what it looks like in a few more rows. It has been modified heavily to meet my size and taste requirements. Itlooks great though.

Loosely Cabled Fiasco

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

I have been too p.o.’d to tell you what has been going on with this shirt, or take pictures of it. I had to frog it down to nothing again. It was 6 inches too wide! OMG I didn’t think my gauge was THAT off. I redid the gauge and thought it would be okay. I took it off to size it and VOILA nowhere near close to my size. ERGH@!!!! SO I decided to suck it up and use the straight needles in the size prescribed and just seam it up later. *POUT HUFF PUFF*

MILs Surprise is done
