The finished Raglan

Saturday, April 12th, 2008

I did finish I just didnt post it. i am not happy with it. The collar fit differently when I was trying it on in process. Now it’s too far back on my neck and I abhor it.

There was this weird gap under my armpit, so I fixed that. There was also a weird one where the V met in the middle…also fixed. I just DON”T like it. I am going to unravel the entire thing and do it over, or switch directions or something. It feels heavenly. The yarn is so nice. I am just overly displeased. It’s the only thing I can honestly say that I made and do not like.

On the sleeves

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

I am now finishing the first of the 2 sleeves on the sweater. I think it is going to be a quarter sleeve instead ofa long sleeve. It just doesn’t seem to be telling me it wants long sleeves. It is coming out really great. :D I did make one kind of annoying mistake on the underarms, but I will know not to do that again if I ever make this sweater in another color. I am contemplating making it out of the blue colorspun, since it seems to only be taking 2.5 skeins of yarn. That would be for my son, though.

Knit It Down, Top down sweater

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

Okay so this was first thing this morning. I am now under the arms and working my way down to the next set of decreases. Joyful. I made some major changes, as in the yoke and collar. No way I was going to waste all that yarn for a collar to flap off the back of my neck. NOT happening. Not to mention, the weight of it on my neck would drive me BONKERS. So I am looking at probably 3 or less days of knitting if I continue to knit as fast as I am. I love doing this top down thing. so much easier to try on while knitting and fix the gauge really fast. I can’t wait to be done so I can WEAR it.

I lied, so sue me

Friday, March 21st, 2008

I said I was casting on the Shaded Tunic today, but I switched it over to the Knit It Down top down Sweater in the January 2008 issue. Why? Well I re-read the instructions and I need BULKY yarn with size 11 needles, the 10s are for the collar only. I decided to regauge the top down sweater to go with my size 10 circs and we will see if I did it right or not. I am currently working on the ribbed collar and am about 3 inches in.

Shaded Tunic start and Cable Tank progress

Friday, March 21st, 2008

So this is the beginning of the Shaded Tweed Tunic in the January ‘08 issue of Creative Knitting. I finally got the size 10 circulars I needed. They will come in handy for a few other projects that are on my list. I wonder if I will deviate from the pattern at all, since I like it so much as is. We shall see, I guess.

As it stands, I have made some progress on the Cabled tank I started on the 10th. The first side is nearly complete. I think I have one inche left to knit up before I get to the fun binding off and straps knitting. Then I get to work on the back side *oh joy*. It has been good, though, since I am eyeing the cables instead of doing them exactly to pattern or even in the direction the pattern says. I will take a picture when this side is done. The drape of it in cotton is already gorgeous. It’s like …dripping off the needles. Fantastic.

Loosely Cabled Tank Top

Monday, March 10th, 2008

So this is my newest project on the needles. I only cast it on last night.

This is being made from 100% cotton by Peaches & Creme that I got in a pound cone from a Raveler. My mother got the pink cone and was already happily making things with it the day I gave it to her.

The cotton has similar stitch definition to the bamboo/wool blended yarn in the photo. I already took out half the number of cables that the pattern calls for, as well as the style of cable. I also did this on circulars instead of straights. I am not fond of the way the seam shows in the picture and wouldn’t want to see that in my own shirt. I will make a few other changes to it and see how it turns out. I hope it comes out the way I think it will.

I am still boringly fussing with the Whisp scarf/capelet/hoodie thing. It’s just BORING. 17 repeats of the same stitch blocks. My brain goes numb just thinking about it, but it will be drop dead gorgeous when it’s all said and done.

The Whisp

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

So I decided to start another project while I am working on a freeform pattern for something else with the Peaches & Creme Cotton. This is the perfect pattern for my Flurri by Lana Morro. It’s called Wisp. Check it out on knitty.com.

The other thing I wont take a picture of until it gets a bit larger…as I might have to rip and start over. So far it looks good, though. I have a ways to go before I can tell, though.

that 70s shrug is complete

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

I had some minor problems, like the back rolled down so I had to add the cinch string around the top. I had to redo the cast off, because it was so tight I couldn’t put it on. All in all, my first attempt at designing off the cuff in knitting came out rather nicely.

Progress: Sleeve of that 70s shrug

Saturday, February 16th, 2008

Here is the first nearly completed sleeve of my “that 70s shrug” named for the color of the bright yarn on the end. This sleeve looks crazy flat, BUT when it is worn it looks awesome. I am writing out the pattern b/c I am contemplating sharing it with all of you. I have also begun the 2nd sleeve already and am thinking about how I am going to join the sleeves in without seaming or kitchener stitch. I have a few ideas rolling around in my head…so we shall see.

Tuesday, February 5th, 2008

I just got my other book in the mail today. It has a full 1/2 inch section of nothing but STITCH PATTERNS!!!! *squeeee!* I am still looking through it. So happy to have gotten this book at such a bargain rate.
